About Me

I’m an engineer for a mid-sized Fortune 400 oil company full-time, but my hobby is following business trends and stocks.  I finished my MBA four years ago when I was 36 with thoughts of switching careers but all my job offers were for engineering positions.  I enjoy what I do but unfortunately don’t get to use much of what I learned in business school.  This website is an opportunity for me to keep my business skills current and share what I’ve learned with others.

Why become a registered user?

Three words: free business advice.  Become a registered user today and help me decide what to write about next.  If you need help developing a business or marketing plan, advice on how to get more customers, increasing your net profit margin, decreasing costs, budgeting more effectively, or advice on any other general business problem, become a registered user today and hit me up with your toughest questions.

So what’s the catch?

My only stipulation is all questions get featured on the website.  I get ideas for content, you get a free business consultation.  Fresh content means more visitors, more visitors means more potential revenue for the website.  I handpick sponsors and rotate a large banner on the right of each page and a small button ad on the left, sponsors I think my visitors would appreciate.  If you would like to help me with the costs of running this website click on an ad you find interesting – most ads are for free offers or discount specials.

Why the name “MBAbriefs”?

I spent 18 years in the US Air Force, 15 year as an Air National Guardsman and 3 years active duty.  I was an avionics technician, electro-environmental technician, computer systems officer, and for the last 11 years an aircraft maintenance officer.  An important part of my job was to give and receive “briefs”, short concise updates on the status of aircraft, repairs, personnel, etc.  This will be how I approach topics on this website, short, concise, and to the point.

Please sign up for updates on Twitter @MBAbriefs.  I appreciate any and all feedback, and would like your suggestions on what topics I should write about.  I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks for reading,

- David
